Duties: Perform system analysis from end-user perspective to develop and deliver end-user training. End-users are normally system operators of Alstom Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Alstom Integrated Distribution Management Systems (IDMS). Teach professional engineers who support these system operators using NERC Certification-related knowledge. Perform all aspects of designing and writing systems curricula by obtaining critical technical information from online manuals, user and system documentation, and customer technical correspondence. Utilize expertise in the systematic approach to training (SAT) utilizing industry standard ADDIE framework. Develop and deliver training on complex Alstom EMS and IDMS software, including lectures, demonstrations, and supervision of labs in the classroom. As a part of lectures, demonstrations, and labs in the classroom, create simulations used in a teaching scenario, both with the Alstom Dispatch Training Simulator (DTS) for the EMS and the Distribution Operator Training System (DOTS) for the IDMS. Develop other concept-based simulations to teach basic grid theory. Integrate customers policies and procedures in regard to Real-Time and Differed Time operation in the training. Transpose this knowledge to the use of the Alstom tools for the Operators and Engineers to manage their grid system to ensure compliance with NERC and corporate rules and requirements. Work with subject matter experts to develop accurate content and conduct periodic reviews to ensure that instructional elements meet mutually established deadlines. Identify opportunities for continuous process and relationship improvements between training, training materials fulfillment, documentation, and technical writing. Participate in ensuring that training standards, policies, procedures, and templates are followed. Own projects assigned from conception to completion. Up to 70% domestic and international travel required to various, unanticipated locations. May telecommute.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and 5 years of experience in the job offered or 5 years of experience in a computer-related occupation.
In lieu of a Bachelors degree, Employer will accept 2 years of work experience in the job offered or 2 years of experience in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include: System control software, such as IDMS or similar; Instructional design methodology; Experience applying instructional design methodology to adult learners in a technical environment utilizing a systematic approach to training (SAT) following the ADDIE framework; Development of courseware from analysis and design phase, including cognitive lecture material, simulation exercises, and demonstrations of software use; Development of simulation labs; Training tools including Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Captivate; Drafting professional and technical reports and procedures; development of simulation scenarios; Development of complex instructional design plans around system operator training requirements, based on client manager input; Development and delivery of technical training materials using the systematic approach to training (SAT) with the ADDIE framework; Application of principles of adult education in the design, development and delivery of training; Certification by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
