As a member of the Air Permitting team, you will develop and implement environmental programs aimed at ensuring compliance with air quality regulations and standards in the Americas while also enabling AWS's growth around the world.
As an Air Permitting Engineer with a strong focus on air dispersion modeling, you will play a key role in air permitting and air quality compliance for new and existing AWS facilities in the Americas (AMER) region.
You will be the environmental representative on behalf of the AWS Environmental Team in AMER responsible for the successful delivery of air permitting projects.
You will partner with stakeholders across AWS to develop standards and mechanisms that incorporate air dispersion modeling into the process of planning, building, and operating data centers.
You will manage strategic air dispersion modeling and air permitting projects and provide regulatory compliance guidance for both design and operations teams.
The Air Permitting Engineer will also work with internal and external partners that include government entities, AWS regional environmental engineers, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.
You will regularly engage with stakeholders; report to AWS Environmental leaders; and ensure risks to air permitting and compliance pathways are being appropriately identified, communicated, and managed.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of air dispersion modeling in support of air permitting in North America, the demonstrated ability to deliver multiple high priority projects simultaneously, the ability to drive alignment across teams with competing priorities, and be a strong advocate for air quality compliance and sustainability.
Key job responsibilitieso Function as a leader for air dispersion modeling work in AMER by completing air dispersion modeling analyses in support of air permitting and strategic data center planning and design;o Develop air dispersion modeling tools and mechanisms which provide efficient technical oversight to environmental and partner teamso Collaborate with relevant business units such as Enviro-New Regions, design engineering, due diligence, real estate, construction, and operations beginning early in the capacity planning and site selection process and throughout the design phase of facilities to ensure future compliance with environmental regulations and air dispersion modeling thresholdso Manage contracts, budgets, and relationships with environmental consultants and vendors to complete air permit applications, air dispersion modeling analyses and perform air emissions testing.
o Prepare air permit applications in AMER by managing the preparation of air permit applications for new construction, modifications, amendments, and renewalso Function as a leader regarding regulatory agency interactions for permit evaluation and processing, new process and technology introduction, and technical application of air dispersion modeling protocolso Build effective relationships with regulatory bodies, laboratories, and service providers for air permitting programo Consult on strategies to reduce environmental impact of air emissionso Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrentlyo Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the companyA day in the lifeThis role's primary focus is to function as an air permitting leader and provide critical air dispersion modeling analyses and strategies that support AWS growth and compliance in the Americas.
As a member of the AWS Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team, you will work directly with regional environmental engineers in AMER to ensure compliance compliance with local, state and federal air regulations and site-specific permit conditions.
Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you will monitor and review evolving and emerging air quality permitting/modeling regulations; you may be required to assess impact(s) of regulatory changes to AWS and propose course of action.
About the teamThe Air Permitting team in AMER is a key member of the the AWS EHS team, which is an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS's growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS's global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products.
The EHS team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS's global environmental and safety programs.
This includes defining and implementing risk management and compliance systems and driving their continuous improvement; setting and refining global policies and procedures; overseeing the development of standards, tools, auditing and metrics, and employee training; ensuring effective engagement by environmental and health & safety teams on global initiatives, including those that are part of Amazon's ambitious sustainability goals; providing specialist expertise; and engaging with all AWS business units to provide scalable and effective compliance strategies that support current and future business objectives while ensuring employee safety and compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
