Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
We are looking for a Principal Design Lead to drive design cohesion, bridge user experiences across our exciting portfolio of residential and enterprise products, and maintain a high bar for design craft on our UX team.
This role reports to the Head of User Experience and works directly with product stakeholders within the Project Kuiper team and across the Devices & Services organization.
This highly-visible individual contributor role (no direct reports) will shape the experience vision for a line of products (influencing across business, engineering, and design).
This role will lead design initiatives with a cross-disciplinary approach (interaction design, research, program management, etc).
We are seeking candidates who have a consistent track record of delivering results and are recognized as UX thought-leaders.
Being successful in the role means ensuring customer experience decisions are evidence-based, rational, visible, traceable, and durable and knowing how to effectively navigate healthy tension between product, research and design strategies.
Building a culture of cross-functional collaboration is a central tenet for how the Kuiper UX team delivers results.
Success will mean employing mechanisms that brings stakeholders together, builds cross-functional consensus, and keeps stakeholders aligned through the product development lifecycle with an emphasis on what the customer will experience.
You will work to identify, define, and partner with teams within Kuiper and, as needed, consult with teams across Devices & Services to inform UX priorities, strategy, and roadmap for 1-3 year outlook.
A clear design vision for residential and enterprise customer experiences will emerge from the strategic design initiatives you lead.
Your deliverables will provide the clarity designers, researchers, product managers and engineers need as critical inputs to their work and the direction more junior designers will need to execute designs while keeping the quality bar high.
You are self-aware and possess a leadership style that promotes a team culture of psychological safety and inspires, empowers, and guide the team to deliver their best work and create innovative design solutions.
Your leadership will translate business and design requirements to inform, create and shape the Project Kuiper user interface information architecture, user experience, interaction guidelines and design systems approach for mobile and web experiences.
You will inspire the team to think big and explore new ideas, invent and simplify to turn design concepts into globally scalable solutions, insist on the highest standards for interaction and visual design patterns, and build trusted partnerships with product and engineering teams.
Key job responsibilities Align business with design from ongoing design delivery for current product and programs up to a 3 year outlook.
Work in lock-step with the business and translate design work into business requirements and translate business requirements into design deliverables.
Elevate the craft of design for the products on behalf of our customers expectations.
Evangelize design to the business area(s) and create a culture for early product discovery and design experimentation.
Be actively engaged at the start of product development and influence the formative stages of product roadmaps in the business through design thinking.
Actively run and contribute to mechanisms that continuously evaluate the product CX and looking ahead of CX decisions during the development lifecycle.
Contribute to writing business docs such as 3 year plans, yearly product roadmaps, OP1s, PRFAQs, BRDs, high-level design briefs, etc.
Participate and contribute to design critiques and reviews for responsible product areas.
Coordinate with the functional leadership team to secure resources necessary to support product experience vision and execution.
Align with the cross-functional team leads, program management on design execution, design quality and delivery timelines.
Establish trust and build confidence with cross-functional partners and executive leadership making sure CX risk management is clear and transparent.
About the teamThe Project Kuiper User Experience Team (KUX) is a multidisciplinary design and research team within Amazon Devices and Services that is responsible for crafting the user experiences that Kuiper's residential and enterprise customers use to discover, acquire and manage their internet service and devices.
Our mission is to design usable, frictionless, accessible, our customers will love.
We are setting a new bar for what the user experience can be when customers interact with the web and mobile interfaces of an Internet Service provider (ISP).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
