Duties: Power systems and electricity markets software design, implementation and testing for a company engaged in the development and integration of real-time applications for control centers for electric utilities or Regional Transmission Organizers (RTOs). Applies power systems and power economy theories, commercial production-grade power systems software, and power systems modeling for large scale electric utilities and RTOs. Under limited supervision, performs basic power systems engineering assignments involving software development and/or delivery in a designated technical area in support customer projects. Assigned basic and intermediate tasks for maintenance of power systems applications functionality; including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces. Assists senior engineers in implementing pre-defined new functionality with power system application software. May be assigned a functionality to implement with limited supervision. Develops or enhances existing functionality to user interfaces. Assigned specific documentation and internal testing to perform.
Requirements: Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, and six months of work experience in
job
offered or six months of work experience in an electrical engineering-related occupation.
Education or experience must include:
1. Electrical power systems, including electrical power system functionality, power system components, static and dynamic modeling, and optimal power flow;
2. Utility-related experience with focus on power systems operation and planning;
3. Utilization of Optimization Tools to analyze the behavior of electrical power market;
4.
computer
programming, including power system simulation tools, C, and C++.
